There are 143 French Institutes around the world, operating under The French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, aiming to promote the cultural and audiovisual cooperation between professionals, as well as modern French and francophone creative arts around the world. Furthermore, the Institute aims to present to foreign students and teachers the French education and French language, through a complete educational program.

French Institute of Greece was founded in 1907 and is an important part of the French Institutes network, due to the long-established and strong Greek – French friendship.
