Goethe Institut Athens

Goethe Institute Athens was founded in 1952 and it is the oldest in the network of Goethe Institutes in the world.

Goethe Institute has two goals: to promote Greek-German cooperation and teaching of German language. For more than 50 years Goethe Institute organizes in Athens German language lessons, as well as cultural events, such as conferences, seminars, lectures and public discussions, film screenings, concerts (classical and contemporary music, jazz), photography exhibitions, painting, etc. as well as various productions of theater, dance, etc. Outstanding German and Greek artists and scientists have participated in these events over the years.

The Library of the Goethe Institute in Athens has 16,000 media and provides up-to-date information on life in Germany, as far as culture, society and politics are concerned.
